The One Music guide to music law is a comprehensive resource. We spend ages talking to our clients about how to keep your copyright and how to make money out of your music, even if you're unsigned.
Have a look at the rest of the One Music site for more really useful information.
The Welsh Music Foundation looks after all "the other stuff" that makes the music world go round. The site includes information about their Stakeholder group and a directory of music-related businesses in Wales.
The MCPS-PRS Alliance represents the interests of songwriters, composers and publishers, as the joint collection agencies for royalties in the UK. MCPS licenses the recording of music, so if you're recording covers of copyrighted songs, you'll need to contact them. If you're playing covers live at a venue, the venue will have or will need a PRS license. Likewise, if someone records or plays live your songs, these are the agencies who will sort out your royalties.
PPL is the UK collection agency for sound recordings played on radio and in public venues. If your recordings get played on the radio or at a nightclub for instance, these guys make sure you get royalties.
