Have you seen Mamma Mia and can’t stop singing? Do you love belting out your favourite tunes but only in the privacy of your car or bath? Would you love to be in a choir but worried that you’d fail an audition?
Then you’re not alone - here is your chance to meet up and sing just for fun. Inspired by our Welsh choirs taking part in the BBC programme ‘Last Choir Standing’, we have set up this Singing for Fun group which is a great vocal, and sometimes physical, workout! You don’t need to be able to read music or have had previous choral experience - you just need to enjoy singing.
Every two weeks a group meets to sing their hearts out to backing tracks of popular songs - like massed karaoke! Exuberant vocal coach Helen Vereker of Successful Singing leads the group through songs they've selected themselves - favourites are 'Those Were the Days', 'Any Dream Will Do' and of course, 'Mamma Mia'.
Currently this group is for ladies only but if enough gentlemen are interested we'll start one up for them too! Then, who knows, maybe a massed mixed choir will result...
We alternate between Tuesday evenings at 6pm and Wednesday evening at 7pm. All groups last an hour and a half, and refreshments are served on arrival.
You are welcome to come to a session once to see if it fits you, and then we ask you to join our standing order scheme, paying £10 per month to cover fortnightly sessions of £5 a time.
We are also collecting interest for a more advanced group which will run as a choir, singing more classical and advanced music, so if this is more your style, please let us know.
Please email us if you're interested in coming along!
